Ask supermarkets to stop stocking kangaroo cruelty

By Humane Society International.

The Humane Society International has signed an open letter with other organisations with our concerns on the welfare implications of kangaroo slaughter in Australia.

What can you do?

1. Most importantly, please provide feedback to Woolworths and Coles directly, encouraging them not to stock kangaroo meat products (for humans or pets) via their online forms:

  • Woolworths
  • Coles (see bottom of page for form or call Coles Customer Care on 1800 061 562)

2. Sign our pledge to not buy kangaroo meat for yourself or your pet – we’ll let Woolworths and Coles know how many people have pledged to go kangaroo meat-free.

Kangaroo Pledge

I am deeply concerned about the horrendous welfare issues of Australia’s kangaroo and joey slaughter which sees millions of animals killed every year. As a result, I pledge not to purchase any kangaroo meat or any kangaroo derived products in supermarkets, restaurants or retailers in Australia and around the world.

  1. Let’s not stock or buy kangaroo meat for human consumption. We have enough meat products chicken sheep eggs etc. Think about this iconic Australian symbol. I have never and will never buy or eat kangaroo and I’m an Indigenous Australian.
