Craft beer and cider at Bungendore show

Every year sees the region’s beer brewers, wine makers and cider squeezers uncork their best for the Bungendore Show Home Brew competition. While the Show will be held on Sunday 29 January, the judging is a special night, open to the public and held on the evening of Wednesday 25 January from 7pm.

Hosted by The George Bar & Dining on Gibraltar Street, the public judging encourages feedback for entrants and good fellowship among brewers. Even if you aren’t entering you can get some tips on your next effort, advice on how to begin or just taste some of the wonderful and/or weird creations that emerge.

Last year’s competition saw fierce competition in the cider category – again the one to win – plus a wide range of interesting fruit and flower wines. As craft beer becomes mainstream and artisanal distilleries pop up in every second shed, perhaps country wines are the next big thing. You’ll have to come along to find out…

To enter your beer, wine or cider, visit, fill out the Pavilion Entry Form and bring two bottles of your finest, and a dollar per entry, to The George Bar & Dining, 20 Gibraltar Street on Sunday 22 January 2017, between 10am and 4pm. Entries will also be taken during business hours at Brew Your Own at Home, Primmer Court, Kambah Village. Enquiries to Tony on 0417 697 470.
