LABOR ACCUSES NATIONALS OF FAKE NEWS ON WATER MANAGEMENT
THE NSW NATIONALS have been caught distributing a dishonest election pamphlet on water just six days after they were caught claiming a Nationals-run fake news website was run by independent journalists.
The Nationals’ pamphlet (main image above) falsely claimed that Labor is trying to funnel water to South Australia, however, it fails to mention that Regional Water Minister and Deputy Nationals Leader, Niall Blair, did this in 2017.
It is a matter of public record that Minister Blair drained 800GL from the Menindee Lakes on the Darling River. This water flowed to South Australia which was in flood at the time and didn’t request the water.
NSW Labor has released six policies to help restore the Darling River, which include reinstating the cease-to-pump rule and restoring low and medium flows on the Barwon-Darling River.
Nationals sacked water inspectors
The Berejiklian Government has not released any long term policies to help save the Murray-Darling Basin.
Shadow Water Minister Chris Minns said that Labor was focused on solutions, while the Liberals and Nationals record speaks for itself.
“The Nationals have robbed water from their own communities and towns and sacked investigators who were tasked with protecting it.
